According to a series of Populus polls for the Times, voters are loosing confidence in Labour and Brown – in alarming fashion. Peter Riddell and Francis Elliot report that “Labour is on 27 per cent, down one point on the last Populus poll three weeks ago, and about the level it has been for the past three months. This is the lowest since the early 1980s. The Conservatives are on 43 per cent — up two points.” And it’s even worse news for Gordon as Populus write in their July report that “the Prime Minister’s rating on its [The Times] ‘leader index’ has now dropped below the previous record low, achieved five years ago by the hapless Iain Duncan Smith”.
