Michelle McGlocklin, MD of Weber Shandwick'stech practice commented on Fridays PR Week that she feels Digital entertainment, green IT, cloud computingand mobile technology will be key growth areas for digital PR in 2009.
I couldn’t agree more. The demand within digital PR as a whole appears to be on the increase. Although traditional PR methods will not be lost as such, the current economy is forcing us to think of cheaper ways to get the coverage desired. Clients expectations of their preferred agencies are unlikely to lessen although we can almost guarantee a lot of their budgets will. Therefore our agencies are having to provide solutions to ensure they beat their competition – often going online is the result.
As for green IT, realistically we could all do with being a little more economically friendly, couldn’t we? With more and more emphasis on global warming and the rise in energy costs I don’t doubt 2009 will see an increase in client’s PR’ing their green and clean ideas across the digital scene.
